In 2015 foreign visitors spent nearly 2 billion dollars in Panama

The report presented by Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) shows that the first six months of this year the visitors in Panama spent almost 2 billion dollars, at the rate of $10.5 million dollars a day.  

The official documents entitled Analysis of the Tourist Inflow and Revenues reveals that Panama has had 1,334,255 visitors between January and June of the current year. Among which, 78.% were tourists,  13.8% cruisers and 7.6% one-day visitors, those who entered the country due to the flight transfer or other reasons, but never stayed overnight. Total number of visitors has increased by 16.5% in comparison to 2014.

The report touches the question of how much money was spent by each visitor and this year there is a significant increase of 13.7% comparing to the same period of 2014 or $229.5 dollars more.

Major entrance of Panama showed serious increase in visitor numbers: Tocumen international airport there registered almost a quarter more visitors (+24.7%), at the same time other entrances of the county such as Paso Canoas border with Costa Rica registered a slight decrease of 5.4%, cruise ship tourists inflow dropped by 16.5%, but the highest growth was registered in all the rest of the ports (smallest and insignificant) with 57.2% more visitors comparing to the same period in 2014.
