The testing phase began on the expansion of the Canal

Currently the 3rd set of locks is going through the testing phase of all systems (gates, valves, electric and mechanic controls). The testing should take about two month before it is over by May and the navigation begins.

One of the most important parts is test for the recycling tubs which will allow to save up to 60% of water each time the vessel passes through the locks. There are also other works to be completed like construction of access areas and landscaping. The observation areas for the new locks of the Atlantic and the Pacific sides are scheduled to open in June of 2016.
